Y Daith: Taith gylch 3.2 milltir (rhwng 2 a 2½ awr), hanner ar lwybrau cyhoeddus i lawr i’r ceunant ac ar hyd yr afon i Bont Llechryd, a’r hanner arall ar y ffyrdd cul rhwng Llechryd a Chilgerran; angen gofal wrth yr afon (yn enwedig lle cafodd y llwybr ei erydu) ac ar y ffyrdd (sy’n weddol brysur ar adegau); dim sticlau; esgyniad: tua 200 troedfedd.

Pwyntiau o ddiddordeb: Hanes y diwydiant llechi, gwaith tin Llechryd, plasty teulu Hammet, y trap pysgod, yr odyn galch i’r gogledd o’r afon, cysylltiad yr afon â’r rhain i gyd, a lleoliad “Hen Bentref Llechryd”.

Wedyn: Bydd cyfle i gael lluniaeth yn y Cardiff Arms yng Nghilgerran.

Croeso cynnes i bawb. Cofiwch fod dysgwyr yn dod i gerdded gyda’r grŵp er mwyn cael cyfle i sgwrsio â Chymry lleol. Da chi, agorwch sgwrs â nhw pan allwch.

Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi Walkers 11 June 2016

Cilgerran and Llechryd area

Leader: Emyr Phillips

Starting point: Cilgerran Village Hall car park (SN 198 428 Cod post: SA43 2TE). Please come in good time to start the walk at 10.30.

Map: tinyurl.com/NeuaddCilgerran
(Use + and – to change the scale of the map)

The Walk: A circular 3.2 mile walk (between 2 and 2.5 hours), half on public parths down to the gorge and allong the river to Llechryd Bridge, and the other half on the narrow road between Llechryd and Cilgerran; care is needed beside the river (especially where the path has been eroded) and on the roads (which are fairly busy at times); no stiles; ascent – about 200 ft.

Points of interest: History of the slate industry, the Llechryd tin works, the Hammet family mansion, the fish trap, the lime kiln to the north of the river, the connection of the river to all of these, and the location of the ‘Old Llechryd Village’.

Afterwards: It will be possible to get refreshments in the Cardiff Arms in Cilgerran. Welsh will be the language of the walk, so if you are beginning to learn you may not be able to follow much of what is said but it is an ideal opportunity to use all the Welsh you have learned and you can ask others to give you the gist – but please try to avoid using ‘English-only’ in any conversation.
