Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi – Ardal Ceibwr

Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi – Taith gyntaf ein tymor

8fed o Hydref 2016, Ardal Ceibwr, Arweinydd: Terwyn Tomos

Byddwn ni’n gadael Maes Parcio Canolfan Arddio Penrallt Ceibwr (SN116 453 / SA43 3BX) am 10.30. A wnewch chi rannu ceir os oes modd er mwyn inni adael digon o le yn y maes parcio i gwsmeriaid eraill y Ganolfan.

Y Daith: Taith gylch egnïol ychydig yn llai na thair milltir a’r rhan fwyaf ohoni ar lwybrau a thraciau; bydd y daith yn dibennu erbyn 1:00 fan bellaf. O’r maes parcio awn ni lawr ar lwybrau i Draeth Ceibwr cyn ymuno â llwybr yr arfordir am gyfnod byr i ben y creigiau.  Wedyn mae’r daith yn dilyn traciau tawel i gyrraedd y briffordd uwchlaw Penrallt.  Awn ni ar ei hyd am ychydig i weld bryngaer cyn dychwelyd a chroesi cae i’r Ganolfan.  Rhaid bod yn ofalus ar y cychwyn wrth fynd i lawr y llethr serth o’r Ganolfan a bydd angen tipyn o waith dringo wedyn ar y llwybr lan o’r traeth. Ond fel arall mae’r llethrau yn raddol. Cyfanswm yr esgyniad: tua 500 troedfedd. Un sticil.

Pwyntiau o ddiddordeb: Datblygiad Canolfan Garddio Penrallt Ceibwr o fod yn fferm i fusnes mawr. Hanes bras pentref Trewyddel; tarddiad yr enw Cymraeg a Saesneg.  Hanes lliwgar Traeth Ceibwr gan gynnwys y smyglo a hefyd y cysylltiad â Wynford Vaughan Thomas, y newyddiadurwr a’r darlledwr. Y Fryngaer o’r Oes Haearn.

Wedyn: Fe fydd dewis eang o luniaeth ar gael yng Nghaffi’r Ganolfan.

Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi Walkers – The first walk of our season

8th October 2016, Ceibwr Area, Leader: Terwyn Tomos

We’ll leave the car park of the Penrallt Garden Centre, Ceibwr

(SN116 453 / SA43 3BX) at 10.30. Please share cars if you can so that we leave enough parking space for customers of the garden centre.

The walk: An energetic circular walk a little less than 3 miles and most of it on paths and tracks; the walk will finish by 1.00 at the latest. From the car park, we’ll go down to Ceibwr Beach on paths before joining the coast path for a short time at the top of the rocks. Then the walk follows quiet tracks to reach the main road above Penrallt. We’ll go along it for a bit to see a hillfort before returning and crossing a field to the Centre. Care must be taken at the start when going down the steep slope from the Centre and there’ll be quite a bit of a climb then on the path up from the beach. Apart from that, the slopes are gradual. Total ascent: about 500ft. One stile.

Points of interest: The development of the Penrallt Garden Centre from a farm to a big business. A brief history of the village of Moylegrove; the derivation of the Welsh and English names of the village. The colourful history of Ceibwr beach including smuggling and also a connection with Wynford Vaughan Thomas, the journalist and broadcaster. The Hillfort from the Iron Age.

Afterwards: There’ll be a wide choice of refreshments in the Centre’s Café
